A show! A show! Members of the company of the Great Radio City Music Hall Spectacular will present an AIDS benefit, "Our Time," April 15 at 10:30 pm in the west rehearsal hall of the State Theater. The late night cabaret of song, dance, comedy and magic will be hosted by Susan Anton and will feature members of the Rockettes, magician Jeff McBride and dance team Melinda Jackson and Jeff McBride. There will also be a cash bar and a celebrity auction of show biz memorabilia. Tickets, priced at $50, $25 and $15, are available from Playhouse Square at 241-6000.

There's a poet in the house. Gifts of Athena will welcome Jeri Reed-Benedict, author of Confrontation 101 (Was This in the Lesson Plan?), for an April 15 reading and signing. The book explores the pain of coming to terms with an abuser and the exhilaration of finding one's self in the process. The reading starts at 7:30 pm. So many men, so many tunes. Make a date April 9 for "Brothers Sing Out," a concert uniting the North Coast Men's Chorus and the Renaissance City Choir from Pittsburgh. More than 120 singing men will present music ranging from Les Miserables to Faure and Copland. The concert starts at 8 pm at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium in Lakewood. Cycle of Songs for Survival, a requiem by Chorale member Kris Anthony. Turtle Creek chorale was founded ten years ago by 37 men. Since then, the 200 member group has lost more than 60 members to AIDS. After Goodbye interweaves the personal stories of people living with AIDS against a backdrop of the chorale in rehearsal and performance. Check local listings.

Gearing up to dance the night away. Got an itch for an all-out dance fest and can't wait for summer's "Dancin' in the Streets"? Then take a drive to Detroit's Majestic Theater April 30 for "Gear," a high-energy, multi-media dance party featuring cutting-edge artwork and fashions and non-stop music. A first for the Detroitarea, “Gear” is being sponsored by Geared for Life, a non-profit Detroit-based AIDS service organization, and corporate sponsors Out magazine, Virgin records and Builders Square. Proceeds will benefit the AIDS Alliance for Children and the Midwest AIDS Prevention Project. Tickets are $20 and are available by phone at 810-358-9849. Something Plus offers something else. Looking for an alternative to the established gallery scene? Then check out the list of events at Something Plus Art Gallery at 12614 Superior Avenue, Cleveland. A show featuring the acrylic Afrocentric impressions of artist Sheldon L. Sweeney will open April 9 with a reception from 3 to 7 pm. The show runs through May 9. The gallery will present the "Look Clinic" April 10 at 4 pm. The "Look Clinic" is a collaboration of professionals in the fields of nutrition-diet, wardrobe and cosmetic enhancement for plus-size women. The gallery will present SATTA, a Cleveland-based group that delivers a hot blend of funky-freshrocking-reggae-body beat dance music, in concert April 10 and 24. Both performances will begin at 7 pm.
